Clara Santacana

Biography


Clara Santacana Hervada is a catalan pianist renowned for her expressive and communicative performances, always engaging deeply with her audience.

As a versatile musician, Clara is involved in a range of exciting projects, including solo piano, lied, song, and chamber music.

Her talent has been recognized in many competitions from a young age, such as the Concurs Joves Intèrprets de Piano de Catalunya, Premis d’interpretació musical de la ciutat de Girona, Premi música Ciutat de Mataró, among others. Most recently, she won the Premi X. Montsalvatge del Concurs Internacional de Les Corts CIM 2024, which will enable her to debut at the LIFE Victoria Festival. She has also been selected for initiatives like MusaE and ImpulsACIMC and has received scholarships from the Generalitat de Catalunya and AIE. Clara was also a finalist for the Yamaha Music Europe Foundation Scholarships 2024.

Clara has performed at various festivals and concert series both in Spain and abroad, with notable appearances at venues such as El Gran Teatre del Liceu, el Ateneo de Madrid, and l’Auditori Josep Carreras de Vilaseca.

Currently, she is furthering her studies at the Hochschule für Musik Basel, after studiyng with pianist Mauricio Vallina, and completing a Máster de Interpretación e investigación del repertorio vocal español at the Escuela Superior de Canto de Madrid.

From her early education at the IEA Oriol Martorell, under the guidance of Maria Gorina, Clara consistently achieved top marks. She graduated from her Professional Degree studies with the Piano Honor Award and continued her piano training at the Conservatori Superior del Liceu with Alba Ventura, where she received the Extraordinary Chamber Music Award upon graduation.

Always seeking to learn from the best, Clara has taken masterclasses with internationally renowned pianists such as Boris Berman, Claudio Martínez Mehner, Wolfram Rieger, Leonid Margarius, Josep Colom, Hyo-sun Lim, Edith Fischer or Péter Nagy, among others. She has studied chamber music with Abel Tomàs and Arnau Tomàs (members of Cuarteto Casals).
